New Ferrari and Scuderia Ferrari Watch Collections Design by Movado

Like most carmakers, Ferrari doesn't produce the merchandise it offers through its official stores. Instead, it cooperates with numerous manufactures that specialize on designing and manufacturing these products. Today, the Italian sports car maker announced that it has signed a multi-year, worldwide license agreement with the Movado Group for the design, production and marketing of a new collection of watches under the Ferrari and Scuderia Ferrari brand names.
The Italian company said that the collection of Ferrari fan watches will be priced up to €1,500 euros (close to US$2,000 or about GBP 1,250) and will be sold worldwide through select wholesale distribution outlets as well as Ferrari's stores and the Ferrari online shop.
Luca di Montezemolo, Chairman of Ferrari, commented: "This agreement is the perfect complement to our branded watch business in an innovative and highly competitive segment. We look forward to benefitting from Movado's expertise in design, development and distribution in order to reach our fans around the world."
The Movado Group said that it will debut the new Ferrari collection at the Annual Watch & Jewelry Fair held in Basel, Switzerland in 2013.
Movado has not published any pictures of the new watches, but the company CEO, Efraim Grinberg, said that they will be inspired by Ferrari's GT and F1 cars.
"The Scuderia Ferrari watch collection will feature compelling, identifiable designs combined with the high quality craftsmanship that Movado Group is known for," said Grinberg. "The Ferrari Formula 1 cars and Ferrari Road cars will provide great inspiration to our design group."

Prada Burns Some Rubber with 1950s Cadillac and Hot Rod-Inspired Collection

This is not the first time we've shown you footwear inspired by the world of automobiles, but unlike the rendered Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera heels and the one-off, promotional Opel Agila pumps, the tail finned high-heels from Prada seen here will soon go on sale. And that's not all. In fact, Prada's entire haute couture line for spring and summer 2012 is a tribute to the fabulous 1950s and especially the American automobile industry with Cadillacs and hot rods taking a center role.
Among the more impressive offerings from an automobile perspective are the high heels, wedges and pumps with flame designs, chrome trims, tailfins and cone-shaped tail lamps!
However, don't go promising your other half a pair of Cadillac Coupe de Ville heels unless you're willing to put your hands deep into your pockets as these babies are expected to cost as much as $1,450 a pair. More photos after the break.

New Acura NSX Concept Meets Old in Gran Turismo 5 Video

Now that was pretty fast. The creators of Sony's wildly successful Gran Turismo racing game series have released a new video that brings to life both the brand-new Acura NSX Concept that was revealed just the other day at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show and the original model, which was marketed under the Honda brand name outside North America. It's only natural to assume that the NSX Concept will eventually find its way into the digitalized garage of the GT5 down the road.
The new NSX brings a new hybrid powerplant that combines a naturally aspirated V6 engine with three electric motors, two of which are assigned to the front wheels.

All-New 2013 Audi A3's Interior

In a similar way that General Motors used the presentation of its new CUE infotainment system to reveal the dashboard of its Cadillac XTS back in October, Audi brought a cutaway of its upcoming 2013 A3's interior to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas to display its current technologies and future projects. We'll get to the technological features later on, but for now, let's concentrate on the design of the dashboard that will find its way on all body styles of the next A3 including the three door hatchback, five door Sportback, four-door sedan and two-door convertible models.
The styling is typical Audi and closely resembles that of the smaller A2 series albeit polished up with decorative trims plus a more upscale instrument panel and center dash. The latter is also angled more towards the driver.
In addition, the lower console is positioned much higher than were used to in mainstream models like the A3.
But there's a reason for that. Among the many features introduced in the new A3 is an electromechanical parking brake and the next generation of Audi's MMI infotainment system, with the controls for both systems located on the center tunnel console.
The central component of the MMI is the touchwheel that merges the touchpad and rotary pushbutton into a single unit for the first time. Audi says that the round pushbutton has a cap with a touch-sensitive surface that allows users to enter characters by finger movement.
There are also two rocker switches in front of the touchwheel that directly operate the most important areas of Telephone/Navigation and Media/Radio respectively, while a Menu key and a Back key complete the MMI's key set.
Audi says it has also revamped the MMI's interface while there's also a new 7-inch LED screen with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels that delivers 3D graphics, and which extends electrically from the top of the dashboard above the center console.
There's also a new Audi Phone Box that can couple any type of cell phones to the vehicle.
Audi also proposed a conceptual multiple head-up display (HUD), with the driver, front and rear passengers all getting their own HUDs on the windshield, though we're not so sure how that would work from a safety perspective (unless the driver can't see the other displays).

[From Audi Press Release]
The driver and front passenger each have their own head-up display available to them; the driver’s is contact-analogue, while the passenger has a conventional head-up display. Both displays show digital travel guides, news and pictures from video telephone calls. In the interest of safety, the driver is shown only static images and simple animations. If the passenger uses a wiping motion to pull the applications into his or her line of vision, all video functions become available.
Visible to all occupants is a central third projection, whose image appears to lie on the windshield. The driver or front passenger can move contents they are currently viewing to this central field with an easy, quick movement so that they can view it together. A camera detects the movements and directs the appropriate signals to the system.

The new A3 will be revealed this year, possibly as early as the Geneva Motor Show in March.
